a day after vs and vjc awesome performances

heyhey, i went to the performance of victoria choir with special guest: victoria junior college. on 25 april 2010 .

their performance was unforgetable and spectacular. the ticket was worth every cent :] hahs.
they certainly live up to their name. both choirs earned a gold with honours.

and yet the difference i see between them and us are miles apart. truthfully, our performances cant be compared to theirs. each choir is unique in its way. but the aim of a choir is to sing in one voice and bring out the meanin of a piece of song to the audience. the choir not only hit the right notes. boby movement, facial expressions, and coorperation are equally impt. thus i hope to see that (101% effort, cooperation,and passion to sing) when choir rehersals resumes. okies?

the 2 choirs shown all of the above aspects and were serious throughout the performances. but some part when some of the members where stiff and no facial expressions, it ruins the whole image, the audience can tell immediately, and the audience need not be a music person to understand this. if its possible try search videos and hear to their voices :) its AWESOME! hahas, i know its still early to say all these. just hope you get my message. for those frens who are unable to check the choir blog, pls remind them abt the thngs i mentioned above.

btw: this tuesday (04 may 2010) theres is a meetin for all choir members at the atrium after sch at 2.30 pls go for this meetin, its very very important!!! pls inform all your frens if you seen this post!

And also when cca resumes pls give 101% effort to make choir a more enjoyable cca for everyone to attend in. im sure you wont wanna have draggy sessions and sing things over and over again just to get it right, rite? :]

Congratz to all the sec3s who have gotten into the new committee!

You guys must work hard and bring choir to greater heights! (:

To those who weren't chosen to be in the committee,

please please please do not be dejected and disappointed.

Even though you're not part of the committee,

as a member of the highest seniority,

it'll also be your job to guide the juniors along during practices,

so do continue to give your all and assist choir!

Sometimes, there'll be unexpected outcomes,

but we hope that you won't be too astonished and traumatized by our decision.

Today it's Sunday,
but i'll rewind all the way back to Friday, 9th of April.

That day,

we sent out msgs to invite the seniors (sec 2s & 3s),

to our informal and crazy sing-a-long-session.

Although the response wasn't very good,

cause only 4 people turned up, but i guess it was okay.

Afterall, we understand that some of you have classes/tuition/other stuffs.

Also, it was last minute.

Our purpose of the session was to : LEARN LET'S CELEBRATE LIFE.

And yes, we were successful!

I think most of us finished learning the song within that 3 hours.

The first hour started out as:

1) Talking

2) Jodi and Huiling attempting to use the keyboard

3) Laughing

The second hour became more fruitful:

1) Learning Let's celebrate life

2) Combined 'sectionals'

3) Singing You raise me up

4) Singing Vi va la mu si ca (seniors VS juniors)
5) Singing Hi ka ri ga

The third hour was the best :D :

1) Singing Lady Gaga's bad romance
2) Singing Taylor Swift's love story

3) Sing some other pop songs

4) Singing some other choir songs

Karyeo's fave part:

Then it ended with another round of 'you raise me up',

hi guys!
as i've said, today's performance was okay(as usual).
hahas. we surely had fun today, right?

and thank you sec3s for the souvenir. it was touching. (plus mr wong's piano song)
we are officially stepping down on monday!!
thinking back, it's really fast.
and through this year's choir progress quite a lot.
so do make sure choir continues to improve.(:

monday's lunchtime concert is coming nearer.
as mentioned, please encourage all your classmates to come watch us perform! :D
some graduating members might be going up the stage to perform during the morning assembly, so do support us!:D
also, do make sure you memorise the lyrics and sing well on monday! :D
you may be dismissed from your lessons at 1.15pm and meet outside the av theatre at 1.30pm sharp. :)

anw, do take note of your discipline although we're not really stressing on that part.
know when you're suppose to talk and when not to.

last of all, do perform well on monday! :)

Speech day is drawing nearer and nearer,
and before you know it,
we'll be up on stage performing,
very very soon.

So, do your part by memorizing the lyrics for you raise me up alright?
For the sec1s, you'll only be getting the scores tmr,
and yes, it's kind of a last min thing to get you to memorize the lyrics,
but we hope you'll try your best to do it (:

And also,
we know it's kind of difficult to get the traditional costumes by sat.
We know it's kind of a rush but we hope you can understand the situation.

Anyw, when we're up on stage performing,
rmb to look at the conductor.
No matter who is giving negative comments or discouragement,
as long as you know you've tried your best to sing with a smile :D
project your voices and keep in tune,
then you don't have to bother about what the rest says.
Like Mr wong has said,
a hall isn't an entirely suitable environment for a choir to sing in,
so if we've tried our very best to sing,
there's nothing more we can do.

Tmr there won't be PT,
but we've gotta report at 3pm.
There'll be full dress rehearsal for speech day,
rmb to bring your costumes!

hello.
here to remind you to bring your traditional costumes tmr for the speech day rehearsal.
those who still cant manage to get one, continue to try to borrow from your classmates.

as you all can see from the previous rehearsals, many teachers are not very supportive of choir.
we have also been reminded by many ex seniors as well.
so all the more we should prove ourselves.

so, let's make this speech day performance a success to prove that choir can make it.
besides the speech day performance, we still have the lunchtime concert and apparently, it the swan song for all your seniors who are graduating.
so make this our best final memories of choir. :)

do remember to practise the songs, okay?

aftear the speech day on saturday, we'll have to stay for practise for the new song.
afterwhich, we will pass over the duties to the next batch of committees.
however, the new committee will only start carrying out their duties after the lunchtime concert.

btw, for the lunchtime concert, you guys would have already know that it'lll be in av theatre. so please invite your classmates to come and support you. :)

anw, rmb to bring your costumes and report tmr outside music room at 3pm sharp. :)
