HI CHOIR!!! Carinda here :)
I'm going to try to make this a lengthy post because i rarely update. So i need to summarize all my points into one post. So basically,the hongkong trip is MORE than confirmed. Its undergoing planning,and before you know it,you're on the plane,flying to hongkong! As we all know,the briefing made us all excited (yay) and we are definitely looking forward to that trip the most amongst everything we are preparing to achieve. So lets do ourselves proud and make our trip worthwhile! ^^

And also,those who handed up the gowns before Thursday (25/08/11),i sincerely thank you. You people are responsible and awesome. However,those who didn't,we would like you to know that you have inconvenienced a lot of us by you inconsideration. Sure,you can forget once or twice,and at the very most,forget thrice. But hey,we asked for the gowns practically weeks before the deadline itself. Why is it that you guys didn't bring it? There definitely could not be any excuse for not being able to bring it,for so many weeks! And you guys didn't even bother to tell us that you didn't bring your gowns,whatsoever. Just because Elena and Josie is lenient doesn't mean you can trample all over them alright? Do reflect,if you know you're one of those who didn't being their gowns.

Attendance! Sec 1s,i'm extremely satisfied. Yay. Sec 3s,great job,keep it up as well. However,sec 2s,improve on your attendance please. There are certainly many people with consistent attendance,but some others are the black sheep,pulling down the reputation of the sec 2s. Tssk tssk tssk. Please don't be one of the black sheeps. I want to see improvements in attendance please! :)

I thought that yesterday's performance was ok :)
sop1 : keeping the dream alive -->take note of the entry points at part D .if you are unsure and confused by the beat,tap along with the music.bar 66:we're KEEPING the dream alive........pls think DARK for the word keeping.
          still i rise --> take note of the details tt mr wong said.esp the last part where all the sections sing in different beats.

sop2:keeping the dream alive-->part D needs to be louder! we are the melody and we need to be heard :) its not every day tt we get to sing the melody.so,pls project your voices.

Altos:keeping the dream alive-->pls be sure of your parts.i c improvement but pls be sure of your notes.use your diaphragm when you are singing because you guys sound really really airy.breathe in properly and sing with more energy! :)
         still i rise-->notes are generally ok,some parts pitching is incorrect.bar 67:and WE can make it happen....think DARK for the word we.
 
pls read my post below as well and refer to the points that i wrote.think of how we can improve on our singing.after listening to the briefing for hk trip,im sure most of you are v v excited :D im excited too :) so,pls make a good impression and put in more effoer.the competition is of international standards.its not just local standards already.the amt of effort and hardwork has to be more than syf.this requires TEAM EFFORT,by every single member.

there are no practices for the next 2 weeks,due to the holidays.so,i expect everyone to practice ok??:) i hope to c better singing from you guys after the holidays :) i have faith in you guys!!

overall:good job!:)  i can c improvement in the pitching of notes.you guys were more sure.but pls sing louder! so,i tried to identify your problems today according to sections :)

-->Altos:generally can be heard .but you guys are not sure of your notes at some parts.like your pitching from bar 23 ,at the chorus.you guys CANNOT get influenced by the sops.FOCUS!listen out to another and have discipline to get the right pitching.i dont 1 to c you guys going back to square one.IMPROVE!NOT REPEAT!

***this song is v choral.there are many chords requiring lots of harmony.so,pls take note of BLENDING! make sure we blend at every note :) hopefully,we can create an overtone.

choir,these two songs will be sung at the end of year concert.im sure you guys cant be just satisfied with our performance now right?im sure you guys want to improve and show to others our amazing singing right? the committee can only do this much,to guide and assist you guys when you need our help.conduct sectionals to refresh your memory,to emphasise on impt details.but the rest is up to YOU.the committe is not the one standing on stage at the concert to sing for you guys.ITS THE ENTIRE CHOIR.we can do this ok :) we can make a difference.we did so in syf this year already by breaking the bronze trend and getting our long-awaited silver.so we can do it again ,even at hk.but more effort is needed.we want to get a gold right?so work towards it.it is a blessing to be part of your passion,singing. ♥ ♥ ♫ ♪ so make every opportunity count ☺
 so yeah,practice ok :) dont let mr wong repeat the same thing when we have taught you guys today.

hey choir. Carinda discriminates my hand writing and yes i'm complaining about her to you all! :) okay just joking. but yea we had fun :) and she changed it to, ' murni's sexy handwriting' XD okay haha. Today singing was like JB. not so good. i think JB sucks. opps :) [if you don't know what is JB, it would most probably be in your dictionary.. go check it out! or you can wait for the subtitles to come out on your screen (joking) ] Please sing well like Taylor Swift and Josh Gorban or Darren Criss or we'll not be able to perform well for our end of year concert and our overseas performance. we are seriously running out of time. OUR PERFORMANCE HAS A HEAVIER DUTY THAN SYF ! so please please try your best and sing out :))

Overall review for today 
Altos - please try to sing out and remember your notes. need a lot of practice!
Sop 1 - only need to work on your notes. other than that, you're fine
Sop 2 - sing out more and remember your notes!

okay so try your best alright?   watch your discipline in choir  and practice the new song we learned today and keeping the dream alive. you guys seem to have forgotten about 'keeping the dream alive'. -sighs-

 Everyone!! We're going to create a choir tee !!! So, hand in your designs by Aug 31st!!! We're also going to design a "costume" for casual performances! Please give us some ideas by August 31st !!

Remember to practice may it be and butterfly especially. and if you don't know how to sing some parts of it, please ask. or mr wong will have to repeat teaching us how to sing the same song over and over again. also altos please sing louder. sops try to project your voice out. when either sections is learning their parts, please don talk loudly and disrupt them or i stuff tissue paper in your mouth! haha but i mean it. dont talk among yourself especially during debrief or when mr wong is talking. Our competition is coming so we must work harder! Harder than in SYF cause it's like 'universal' okay haha. When you guys tag on the chatbox, please write your name. cause you know the blog not so active ( and everybody is on facebook but no excuse! :D ) and we will post all the stuff here unless its reminders then it will be on Facebook. okay tag on the choir blog often and see yah all tomorrow.

Hey my sexy elite vocalist !

I hope you are reading this because Im posting today ! Haaaaha ^.^

Okay aren't you excited for Monday ? You should be ,it'll be fun .Promise.

Before I forget , I want to thank the whole choir for co-operating with me on Wednesday though I was really grumpy.teehee.

The choir was great today .I really really really hope the choir will be like this on Monday.

Every single one of you should be proud,honoured and really excited that you're performing.

So how do we make this performance a success ? Just 2 things guys .Just 2.

1) Sing like you never sang before.
2) Smile like there's no tomorrow.

Please read this section its just personal advice ,you all have to read:

I know how it feels to be scared on stage.Dont be nervous ,your friends are with you.

Look at the exit sign .Dont look at your feet .Stand up straight ,dont fidget.

Do choir proud .Sing out loud .Dont be lazy towards the end of in the heartbeat.

Remember your actions .Be sure of your movements, ask your friends or ask the committee members.We did it in the AV theatre ,we can do it again.So what do you do now ? Practice ! Its sounds really cheesy ,I use to think so too but I can promise you guys that it helps.Remember what you all promised Carinda ?To be as hyper as you all are today :)

Common mistakes the choir make :

1) Not on time for "In a heartbeat " we cant afford to make these mistakes
2) Being very lazy towards the end of the song
3) Forgetting your movement,we will go through on Monday again .
4) Very airy ,please use diaphragm.
5) For high notes take in a deeeeeep breath before that.
6) Lack of practice ,dont think I dont know you guys dont practice.BEEN THERE.DONE THAT.

Here are some important reminders :
-Be in the music room by 7.25 am
-For your hair please bring : hair tie ,bobby pins and wax or hairspray.

-Tie your hair in a bun before coming for choir.
-For your pretty little faces bring : your own foundation ,blusher and dont forget your brushes !
-Try your best to use contact lenses
-Wear full uniform
-Memorise word for word everything .Sing,sing and sing.
-Do the committee proud alright?You know you can.
