Important Updates

Hi Guys, Kayseng here.
Here are some important updates so read e-v-e-r-y-s-i-n-g-l-e word.

1. Change of Concert Timing
As some of you may know, Mr Wong has decided to only do one show which is 5pm - 6pm. For those of you who have relatives going for the 6pm-7pm show, inform them that the timing of the concert has changed. The price of the ticket is still $10 -yay-

2.Bedok Town Secondary School Practice on 6 SeptFor those of you who do not know how to travel to Bedok Town Sec, meet Mrs Ang on 8.20am @ Bedok Interchange Bus 225 queue ( green plate) Mrs Ang will bring us there. Student Leaders involved in SL CAMP, you must still come to rehearsal. You will proceed back to school for camp after 1pm. ( Approved by Mr Sheik so don't try to escape >:D ) 

3.No CCA on Monday, 10 SeptemberI know this must be your favourite part of the whole post. There's no CCA on Monday, 10 Sept because there will be Performing Arts Day on Thursday, 13 Sept. Whole choir please report in blue choir tee. Performers, I will brief you the details. 

4.Toilet Pee Pee IssueGirls, I understand some of you are quite unhappy with the fine for going toilet thing and yes it is quite unreasonable. However you must understand that we do not want you all to go to the toilet and slack and do all funny stuff. But, as reasonable and awesome seniors, the fine rule is scrapped but there is a condition. You must come back within a reasonable timing like within 5 minutes or something. If we think that you are taking too long, we will still fine you. 

5.N Level during September PracticesFor your information, the N Level will be held in the hall during the September Holidays and we are going to use Harmony Room. Therefore, I need your fullest co-operation. KEEP YOUR VOLUME TO THE MINIMAL. ( No, this does not mean singing softly) Don't laugh,giggle and do crazy stuff. It's the N Level we're talking about. When waiting for CCA to start, gather at the right door ( the one nearer to the HOD staff room ) 

6. Littering IssueWe have noticed that you little people like to leave your mineral bottles, USED tissues -ew- and sometimes scores around the harmony room. From now on, the whole choir will take turns to clean up the room, starting from the Sec 3s. Every practice , we will rotate the level on duty. ( Sec3s, Sec2s then Sec1s) We hope that with this duty roster, you guys will keep the room sparkling clean :)

NDP Concert Rehersal

Hey awesome choir people :D
I want to thank all of you for your efforts put in yesterday during our practice. I see you guys enjoying the dance. Continue to put in your effort and bring it up on stage ! The audience don't see our effort. They only see the result . Sad but fact.

Okay guys , Here are some problems for both songs.
Will You- Sing louder ! The audience can hear the manly manly voice from the soundtrack!

- 2nd chorus jumping is not syncronized. ( means all of you jump at different speed,height...) We'll change it to bouncing.

-SMILE -OHMYGOSHTHIS- WE ARE PERFORMERS. PERFORMERS ARE  SUPPOSE TO BRING SMILE TO THE AUDIENCE. IF WE LOOK SAD AND LOOK UNWILLING. WHAT WOULD THE AUDIENCE FEEL ? WOULD YOU LIKE TO WATCH A PERFORMACE WITH SAD PEOPLE ? ( no Im not angry nor am I shouting at you all. I caps it because it's very very very very important)

Reach out for the skies
- Again, Volume. Sing it like you mean it. Singapore! You love your country and the food, the people , the multi racial groups

-Actions are not on beat. Space issues and positions we will settle on Monday. Make your moves passionately. Make it alive !

- Memorise the lyrics of both songs ! There will be a lyrics test on monday !

Okay guys , Choir starts at 3 on Monday. Come in your PE unless you want to be all sweaty and sticky cause we're going to practice the dance.

Remember to bring your : Dark Coloured Jeans/Longpants
                                    : Red/White Top
                                    : Sneakers/Covered Flats
people without flats wear school shoes. No SYF heels allowed.

Sec 1s and 2s , there will be no theory lesson on Monday.

Anyways, I heard that some of you gave attitude to Mr Wong ? Please, remember the choir rules you all wrote down the other time .. Especially to pay attention to Mr Wong. He's the conductor , so you should at least respect that by listening and not chatting or giggling throughout the session. And don't be disrespectful to the other committee members.. You know its hard to teach 20 over people by one session just for one part? If you think it's so easy .. Come up and teach lah ! We've also been very lenient to you .. If I hear about this one more time, I will make you all write lines, okay ? And also for the songs .. Please memorise the songs at home, and if you are not sure, let us know. Don't just keep quiet , the when we tell you to sing, then sing off-key.. Srsly guys ? 


Okay lah enough ranting .. Don't wanna make you guys resent more of choir than you alrdy do . See you guys when I can .

Hello Choir.
I'm so tired that I can sleep now . I haven't finish my homework and here I am posting for you'll so tag. ( Don't tag tag . It's so boring. Lets make the tagboard alive hahahas)
Okay, the video above is "Aria" but in orchestral form . PRACTICE AND SING WITH IT. esp Sop1s as you girls are singing the melody. Yes 3 people is hard, its crazy but IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

Altos- Need practice. I don't want to keep repeating myself . Practice makes perfect.
Sop2s- I think that you guys are better on Friday so you should put in more effort. Listen out to 1 another and sing out especially miss taylor ( wink wink ) and sec 1s . I'm not picking on you'll and mention you on purpose so just sing out next time so the whole group will be fantastic. Sop1s- Listen out to each other . You guys need to listen to the rest of the choir . 

Remember what Mr Wong said. We are suppose to finish the piece by next practice so we have about 1-2 more week.

Lastly, Remember what Mrs Ang mentioned during debrief. It is passion that keeps you moving. Passion>Talent . If you like something, you will have the tendency to practice and improve it. SO KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE GUYS. WE ARE ONE VOICE, ONE FAMILY. C-H-O-I-R CHOIR CHOIR !
We welcome all feedbacks and suggestions. You can stay back after choir to tell us. You guys are the true leader of choir . What the committee does depends on your attitude.

let me start off by saying that your performance on thursday was very bad. first of all the altos  you were all so very chatty...when mr wong was talking most of you were having your own private conversations with the people next to you. throughout the practice you were talking away and to top it all off you all did not sing up to standard. your voices were so airy and  soft. pleaseeee practice at home!!  all of you have so many members but the numbers are not showing in the standard of voice. also the sec 1's please behave yourself. some of you seem to have a lot of energy, so please channel that 'sportiness' into the singing kays?? respect the people standing in the front whether that person is your friend or someone of higher authority.next choir practice will be on 18 june monday from 2pm-5pm. please be punctual and inform friend's who were absent previously about the practice.

now i know it is difficult to sing after that "long" break . all of your voices sounded so rusty and airy .but i also did realise that the choir workshop on monday helped you all a lot. now that all of you know what is the dynamics and how to lift your facial expressions, i should expect all of you doing these  during the next practices . do not talk whenever anyone is in the front talking. give the due respect that we deserve.  we will have a session next monday so  bring your pe attire.the committee has fun games in store.i also want to thank all the people who turned up for monday's practise. if your friends aren't here  inform them regarding upcoming sessions.all the people who did not bring the $4.10 for the phillipines world's best choir concert,please bring the money on monday. MUST!!and also the forms,sign it and bring it on mon. there is no choir on friday.on mon choir will start at 2pm

Okay , first thing first . Today's discipline is okay . Just okay._.
You guys are a bit noisy and chattery when the committee is addressing you guys so pay a little more attention when we are talking in front. Oh and respond please. Responddd. We are talking to awesome elite singers , not the walls or pink chairs in the AV. :) And people , don't whine when we ask you to do stuff like " HUHHHHH Whyyyyyyyy , Whyy cannot like this ! Why cannot like that ? " Every decision we make is to improve and make choir better. You may think that we are being horrible but we are not ! :D
Secondly, Congratulations to those people that got into the senior choir ! WOHOOO. Job well done people ! (Y) Continue this kind of effort okay ? :D -clapclap-

Okay now I want to apologize to you guise. We know that we didn't do really well today and the whole practice is not really smooth but give us some time , we will definitely improve :D

Our last day

Hello choir!! Firstly,I would to announce that I love every single one of you and I will miss you when we step down and not come for choir anymore teehee.
Our last session with you guys would be tomorrow and we have wishes .These wishes are to be granted by you little singing angels.

1) Please oh please please be a confident performer on stage! Dont be nervous ,we'll do great on Saturday! Its our last performance with you so please do I us this favour ?
2) Smile ^^ I dont know how to make you smile but every single one of you need to smile during the dance .You must show the world that you are enjoying yourselves on stage.
3) Sharp movements!! I don't want to see sloppy ,lazy fingers and elbows.Put some energy in what you're doing.
4) Nervous ? Look at the exit sign at the back of the hall and imagine you are performing for that green sign .Smile at the green exit sign .Dont worry ,you'll still look good on stage lolol

So before the performance remember these 5 wishes from us and grant them and everyone lives happily ever after.

IMPORTANT REMINDER : BRING $12 FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CHOIR TEE TMRW.

Big Big BIGGGGGGGGGGG Super important post for all of you naughty people in choir. :3

Today was hard core practicing for Thursday AND Speech Day. We had the diaphragm training today whereby everybody stood on chairs, hold the chairs away from their body and sing loser like me & light up the world as loud as possible. And it's good to see everybody trying their best and singing at the top of their voices. :) Even during the dance, everybody sang loudly. That is what we need to see and portray on both the full dress rehearsal AND on speech day itself. We can't possibly make you do this exercise every time before we start dancing; that would be wasting a lot of precious time and I don't think you would like to do it every single time as well. So please, take more initiative, don't make us have to shout at you all the time. It's not nice to do so in front of everybody else.

Also here are some of the pointers that we have went through today and keep them in mind when you're practicing at home :

- bounce bounce bounce all the time :) BEND YOUR KNEESSSS
- SHOCKING ENTRANCE. Smile with your teeth, bring audience the joy of performing!
- straight and precise movements during "we got the love alright". Remember that your right shoulder GOES OUT FIRST. And also punch the airrrrr!!!
- Keep communication to a minimal when you are moving into light up the world positions.
- During the "hey hey hey you" 4 rows part, last row and third row, you have to go down together AT the same time. And for the last one, all of you have to get up AT THE SAME TIME as well. This is very important, otherwise everyone will look really messy and that's not nice :(

Above all these points, do take good care of your throat just for this week. No spicy nor fried food, minimize shouting/talking loudly. And drink honey! It's sweet and yummy and helps sooth your throat from today's session. :)

Also, friday will be the results of the new committee, so everybody has to come! ^^

Did you get the monday bluesz ? anyho , today's venue was abit messy i know . I hate it too when people push you around and make you go all over the place , so you guys really need to be cooperative (:

The singing as janice said was not bad . Good job guys . Your tuning is getting better (: keep it up ! And most of you were using diaphragm too . 

So how did you find the games ? i think it was fun ! But you guys were too chaotic . Chill man ! Maintain your discipline . And please show your respect to Erni and Yan Ran . It was already bad enough that out of all the sec4s , they're the only ones available to present you the game . I bet we wasted loads of time getting you all to settle down and follow instructions . Yes we can have fun and be hyper , no we cannot be ill-disciplined and not listen out/follow instructions . 

The dancing was ... lets just say i've seen better performance by you all . I know you guys are tired . We've all lose our energy from the games to the dance . So we didnt really scold you and make you redo a million times right ? (:

And i honestly think we've every right to hold you back and scold you for your discipline today but no we didnt . We even let you off early . Be thankful !

By the way did you know we're stepping down soon ? *ahem* And by soon i mean Friday the 13th . woooo

ok erm on Friday you had your dance practice. I'm pleased to say you guys have improved tremendously. However your behaviour and attitude need some improvement. I honestly feel that without proper discipline, no matter how good your performance will be, your attitude will bring it down. Please reflect on your disgusting behaviour because trust me sec 3s, when you take over it isn't going to be easy. We dont like to scold but when we do it, it's for your own good. Stop complaining. Trust me, we know what's going on.

Reminder: Please bring your consent form on Monday. Latest ohkayyyy!!! Don't submit it late. You've been warned.

And a personal note to the people failed the dance audition, don't be disheartened. There's always another chance, practice harder and you will pass. Jy.

Yo choir! Syafiqah here again

Today's session was fairly good and fairly bad... Basically what i mean is that your discipline have NOT been improving since our first session this year. It SUCK so far. yeah... You all were very chatty today. Is there something interesting to talk about? If yes, then share with the whole choir ah since it's much more important to talk about. I'll make you talk in front of the whole choir. You think i enjoy scolding and repeating the same boring line ah!?! It's so frustating. I may not have scolded you today but you should have the basic courtesy and respect. When i say keep quiet, you freaking shut your freaking mouth! Dont test my patience. You want respect, you jolly well shut up and respect for the person talking at the front. Just now when mr wong was conducting, from where i sit, i can hear people murmuring. Plus mr wong had to get your attention to focus. Stop wasting anymore time! We only left with 1 more practice for the lunchtime concert. 1 MORE PRACTICE EH! Its not a joking matter. Im sure you dont want to humiliate yourself in front of your fellow friends.

Secondly, please go practice your songs with dynamics. For some of you who dont know what is that, well it means the loudness. When you look through your scores, you will notice that there are p, mp, mf and f. p means soft; mp means moderately soft; mf  means moderately loud and f means loud. Also take note of the correct posture when singing. Basically just refer back to your notebook. Study the notes that you have written down in your notebook cos there will be a quiz on it on mon. Oh, and also memorise the words for the songs including the dynamics and etc.

As for the speech day, there will be 2 rehearsals: 5th april and 12th april @ 3.30pm. On the 12th, its a full dress rehearsal. So please write down the following on your diary or whatever:

1) Yellow dress
2) Safety shorts (any black short shorts
3) Black heels

This are the things that you hae to bring on 9th april (mon). As for Kay Seng, bring your shirt, pants, yellow tie and shoes. DONT FORGET TO BRING!!! SAY IT OUT LOUD 10 TIMES!!! REMEMBER TO PRACTICE!! SING THE SONGS WHEN YOURE SHITTING OR DO WHATEVER, JUST SING!! OKAY?!? AND TAG SYAFIQAH ROCKS!! hehehe...

Dear choir, I know i am annoying cause im always scolding you guys xD, but if i dont , choir will be in a state of chaos . So, bear with me FOR THE FUTURE OF CHOIR. im stepping down soon so, you will hear me less often soon enough :) and miss my annoying voice >:p

To start things off , gentle reminder: practice yell especially the parts we are weak at. Every one of you makes a difference! Dont rely on others! Be the difference! Dont skip some parts cause you find it hard. Best way to overcome fear is to face it head on!! Memoriae the words by monday! Though needless to say itld come naturally if you sing the song enough. Also, practice your dance moves!! Oh p/s performance for yell is next thursday we only have 2 practices left to brush up( NOTICE: BRUSH UP NOT RELEARN)

Im not happy with todays discipline at all . I enjoy my last few practices with choir better when things run smoothly :/ so be nice okie!! I wish to see better self control next monday!! OR YOULL SEE MAD WOMEN SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS!!! >:D

1.  i say again ah .. IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ASK!! LIKE THE DANCE. OR SINGING. if you realized that you don't know any part of the song ASK!! DONT JUST SIT THERE LIKE A DOO DOO! (pms-ing woman screaming)

2. GO HOME AND PRACTICE your DANCE and your SINGING. as you know your dance today was like this ' ___________' .if you guys do it well and perfect, you wont have to do it over and over again and have some naggy people nagging at you.

AND!! sing out well!! check your singing! make sure its not AIRY!! I"VE STRESSED THIS A MILLION TIMES! listen out to the PEOPLE BESIDE YOU!! if they're not singing ASK THEM TO SING! WE'RE GONNA PERFORM IN LIKE ...... 1 year? NO! 12 DAYS?! (is it? :3 ) and you guys are so .... not stable. even i, myself have to go home and practice and PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT and only if you PRACTICE you guys will succeed, our performance, our dance will succeed and so we will not embarrass ourselves. SO PRACTICE, OR YOU TAKE OUT YOUR SHOE AND LICK IT! :3  that 'YELL' song is in my head!!

anyway we took a really long time ( hmm 2hrs? my feet was killing me) to MASTER the last part of YELL. with all that long hours of standing. i wanted to yell. this song is really hard, i know, whatever the case is, we officially finished learning this song!! YAY! despite the long hours and mr wong's patience. 

3. attendance!
those people who didn't come for choir please ask them to come and they're missing out so much stuff! oh. if you guys didn't come for choir, you guys must produce an Medical Certificate. or you can sit and not sing during choir. but you guys must still pay attention to whatever that we're conducting and write down notes and stuff. and if you're not feeling well, inform us the committee. and the Committee will inform us.   

4. DISCIPLINE!!!

just because we didnt say anything about it or PUNISH you guys with it, doesnt mean we dont care. to be honest, we've been controlling and giving people chances to not give you guys punishments. some of you are already under our black list. we tell you guys so many times to talk softly and talk at the right time. for example, during the dance practice today. you guys were really rowdy!! if you guys dont know your position, not so sure of the dance, RAISE UP YOUR HAND AND ASK. basic manners! and wait until we've asked you to say then you say. because some of you raise up your hand already then straight away say! like a canon!  


okay it will be more frustrating when you guys just follow blindly while dancing and disrupt the practice. so ask = save time = longer breaks and stuff. and for those who maintained self discipline, good job. its not that we don't let you talk, is that you guys makes so much noise while doing so. there's a limit to everything. its okay that you guys have fun. just control yourself okay  :)

Today's Session
The dance was well done .I could see the new learners putting effort in it .Practice at home guys!! The lyrics are also printed out for a purpose .During the performance we are expected to SING OUR HEARTS OUT. Dont throw that piece of paper away,its a score ,without notes.Download the song in your ipods and phones and sing to it :) Remember there are auditions!!

If only you guys put the same amount of effort in the dancing into your singing .We have are practicing this song for a performance.We want to do our best for it,dont we? We're almost done with the song woohoo~
Lastly,omg you little bimbos are crazily noisy today.We cant keep yelling for you guys to shut up you are not little kids anymore! I know I havent been calling people up to write lines for excessive talking but it looks like we need to do it again right ?

Hello choir! This is Jiaqi here. :)

Today's session was pretty fruitful cause we have managed to brush up a lot on part A2 and familiarize ourselves with part D. :D Which is good! Even though we had to repeat it many times but at least, we manage to get it in the end. Don't you feel a sense of accomplishment? xD hahaha. That's the result of good cooperation with us. Since we have known the notes now, please practice this song especially on parts A2 and D. And of course, the rest of the parts too since you won't want to forget them after practicing so hard.

Discipline for today was quite alright too. It is good to see you all having the sense of urgency and gathering on time :) However, all of you need to know when to speak and be quiet at the correct times. Speaking when the other sections are learning their parts is not acceptable. Remember that when you are learning your parts, you would want to be able to listen to the piano and not people chattering away. This is a point that we have been emphasizing a lot, and I don't think you guys like it when we keep on repeating it. So please improve on this aspect.

Also, during the game session today, it is great to see all of you participating it with much enthusiasm :D We hope that you had enjoyed the few games that we had planned for the previous and this practice. ^^ The next game session will be conducted by the sec1s, which will take place on the March holidays' Monday practice! Let's all look forward to it~~ Yayyyyy~~ :)

For the entire choir, please remember to complete homework that Mr Wong has given to you on Friday!  You have a week to do it, so I don't think it is any excuse to not have it done by next Monday. Please bring your notebooks on the next practice!

Hey choir , yinita here ! hmm , how did you guys think you did ? Not good right ? Not even close . Do you really want us to keep scolding you all the time ? I bet not . We dont like it either . And i guess Mr Wong had finally had enough of 'closing one eye' . He does notice that the choir talks , alot . And dont you think its disrespectful to be talking away when someone else is talking . Respect people . Even if they're not talking to your section , you still have to be quiet so its not distracting for the person talking and the other section listening . We're not expecting you to completely shut up , but we want a MINIMUM noise level . Mr Wong finally reprimanded sopranos right ? For talking so much when he is teaching the altos . Its already bad enough that the committee need to remind you to stop talking too much and Mr Wong had to add into this . 


As for your singing , it sounds rather dead . It doesnt sound like you sang with technique . You guys heard that he wanted to give up on this song . Do you want that ? Afterall we're halfway there . All you need is a little more effort and determination . Don't give up just yet Choir . I know we can do this . Prove to him that we can manage this . Cos if you don't , think about all the practices wasted on this song . You don't want it to go to waste right ? Might as well , complete this 'race' . 


Hi altos ! we're really working very hard on you . Trying to help you . But there would'nt be any improvement if you don't help yourselves . We need two hands to clap . You're better than this altos . Just open your little mouth and sing . Its okay to make mistakes , just learn from it (: 


Lastly , i hope you enjoyed the mini games and paid attention to what Mrs Ang had said . Everybody has tough times , but you have to get over them and make it enjoyable for yourselves . Hello choir. Carinda here. Today's session was...not a pleasant one right? Escpecially for the altos. We did scold you and stuff, but the reason is, ALTOS YOU DON'T PUT IN ANY EFFORT AT ALL. Only under stress and pressure, you guys perform up to expectations. Not good. You mean before competitions and concerts we must scold you and stress you and give you pressure before you can perform well? No. We can't do that. Why not just put in about 40% more effort? That should be just enough to keep you going for the whole session. You guys are only putting in 30%. NOT ENOUGH. I urge you to give another 40%. I know now choir isn't very bonded, isn't very fun and trust me. WE'RE WORKING ON THAT. All we ask for is 40% more. Ohkay? And trust me once you are bonded, 200% isn't a problem ^^ For now please trust that the situation will improve and the committee is trying our very very best to make choir less boring. We know it is, we feel that way too. And its not completely our faults, we have deadlines to meet for the parts we have to finish practicing before Mr Wong comes back (on friday) you know? So if you learn fast, satisfy us quickly, we can have more fun, more games, more bonding, less boring, less sian sessions. Makes sense right? So please please please cooperate. It only makes a difference if everyone cooperates together :) We'll try ohkay? And sorry for scolding you guys. Although you should instead. >( haha but please altos. Today's practice was pretty epic..if you know what i mean..ok,so i hope you guys enjoyed today's practice :) we went through the song till part A2 .pls go back and revise.if you think you can get away with it,you're wrong.as i said,if you dont practice,you are going to find yourself v lost.rmb the video?? that is our goal! :) so aim for it! ^^ take note of counting ,entry pts and pitching etc etc etc etc.listen out to one another! :)
to emphasise again,EVERY SECTION IS IMPT! doesnt mean that you are not taking the melody means that its none of your business and you are not impt.CHANGE THAT PESPECTIVE NOW. every section is impt,WE ARE A CHOIR.with one section less,we will sound different. you cant change the section you are in now (well,at least for these 6 mths),you can only change your thoughts. :) sing every part with joy .

Hey Syafiqah here :) Today's discipline was better than the previous practice. BUT that does not mean that you're discipline was perfect!! Gah!! Just like what Kay Seng said, all of you were chaotic when we were having P.T. When someone is talking in front, no matter if she or he isn't a committee member, you should give them the respect by paying attention to them. It's not easy for someone to conduct especially when the choir have grown bigger, so I seek everyones' cooperation for the next practice. Lastly, sectionals was horrible! PLEASE PLEASE PRACTICE!! Learn to sing out more especially the Altos. Now Alto is bigger so I expect all of you to sing louder. Sec 1s, don't rely on your seniors to sing out for you. Same goes for the new comers. On top of that, I expect to see better improvement in your singing, including your facial expression and etc.

an improvement in attendance today, thanks to munirah & farharnah who have just joined us again and also the new girl in choir! even if so, i would like to infrom everyone that PRACTICE is very important, we have to get everything right now or i'm afriad with this standard, we cant even get bronze for SYF because we're not even improving and C.O.P (certificate of particpation) will laughed and looked down by the entire school. i have to say that discipline is very important in choir, you can talk and have fun. of course, but when mr wong is teaching, please DO NOT MAKE SO MUCH NOISE. in case you guys dont know, whoever is caught with any of these offences ( late coming, never bring your necessary materials and poor discipline) will be punished. (haha) poor discipline will be writing lines and some of you are already in the black list. *DUH DUH DUH ~  * 
please give your full attention to whoever that is giving out instructions. i'm sure no one wants to get punished for this! *DUH DUH DUH ~  *  singing today was an improvement from monday, but the standard everyone is giving is low. please help your peers and seniors!! help your juniors! the future is with the junior. without a good foundation, choir wont be as good. you guys play the biggest part in their days in choir! the committee is just there to help run choir. the one that impact most on everyone is your friends in choir!

Hi choir, elena here. I know you guys are busy people and all so I prefer to keep things short and sweet.

Quick tips:

                 We're a choir so i hope to see the 'Less me and more we' attitude. It'ld be greatly appreciated if everyone plays at the right time only. We can have out own fun but when it's time to be serious, we have to be serious. Please work on this.

                  Remember to bring EVERYTHING you need to the stage BEFORE choir starts! no bargaining! 20 pushups/situps ok guys. No exceptions.

                 Cooperate with Janice! She's really really experienced in her music so she's kind of the best music advisor we have , please respect her for that and pay heed to her advices.

                 Lastly, be less chattery, i know you have all your friends around you in chior but have some self-discipline and self-restraint also, please do things FASTER. Show some sense of urgency. We don't really have much time every practice.

I like how everyone participates and not complain excessively but we have to be more enthusiastic when singing okie? It's a slow song we're learning but there has to be COLOUR.

Other than those things up there, it has been a fruitful and enjoying day with all of you. I hope to see more of these days! Cya guys on friday! :)

HELLO CHOIR :D thanks for reading this. Anyway i shall try to be interesting. Seems like thats my passion. And anyway this blog has been really really boring right? Tell everyone to get a grip. CCA is supposed to be fun, bond-ish and happy. But i realize we're always doing punishments and always getting scolded. Why?Why so? Its because our discipline is not up to standard. To keep us in check, the commitee has to scream, shout and scold to make sure order is kept. This commitee has the worst disciplined choir ever, to be honest. That is probably our fault but we just don't want to be strict. We know that you'll all the disgusted and annoyed and unhappy, and you'll not enjoy yourselves and go through the long and stupid process of trying to quit choir. DON'T DO IT. Its not worth it. Trust me, choir is fun. We have our fun times. All we need is some bonding and a hell lot more DISCIPLINE. All of you keep chattering away. You need 20 years to process what the com says before you actually do it. Put yourselves in our shoes. Yes. We may appear annoying and scold for nothing, and we are also ill disciplined sometimes, but when its time to get serious, we don't play around or do funny funny things. Serious times are when its time to sing, time for people to look at us and 'judge' us. Somehow. Ohkay anyway i am just super disappointed in your discipline thats all. Please improve. You don't get a lot of talk from Syafiqah about your discipline as well so please do try and reflect. You see this as nonsense but you never know until you try. Try being us for a day. Try keeping everybody quiet and in order for things to start happening. To me, choir at times can get boring. Yes sure, you can talk and have fun with your friends, for example when you're not singing, but be considerate and don't disturb people who are singing. Ok. Ok. Ok. Enough lol. Do practice your song. What do ya thk of choir practice today ? i hope you enjoyed the games (: I admit it was a bit messy at the beginning of choir la , but i wanna thank all of you for trying to cooperate with us . However , it can still be improve though (: But the main problem with you guys is your noise level . You seriously need to know when to talk and when not to talk . When someone is talking and giving instructions , you jolly well listen . Its as simple as that . Things would be done faster and we would have saved so much more time . I hope this will improve next practice on friday .

Your singing was not bad . But it wasn't good either . There's still so much room for improvements (: Keep on practising guys ! I'm sure you all wanna master the song as quickly as possible . And when you all sing right , please do not just sing your own part and heck care about the other sections . The key is to listen . Listen out to your notes , conductor and other sections in order to create beautiful music :3

And btw , i was really happy to see the number of people present in choir today . It was huge ! :D Please do continue to come for choir regularly and we'll be giving out the 3 prizes to the respective winners on Friday . Hello choir! This is Jiaqi speakingggg! :)

Today we have our second choir session with our sec1s who have just joined our family ^^ It is good to see most of you helping and guiding the sec1s out with all the notes and such. Do continue to help them out as majority of them have never been in a choir nor have any music background! Mr Wong has finalized our positions so please do not switch positions to your own accord when he is not here.

Despite that, today's discipline was not up to standard. There were lots of murmuring going around and when Mr Wong was talking. Even when the seniors were telling you instructions for the group singing, many of you were still busy chattering. Remember that we have to respect whoever is the one speaking and pay attention.

As for today's singing, it was quite good. Many of you managed to pick up your notes quickly and did not made Mr Wong go through that many times. For the altos, good job on singing out loud. But you'll have to be abit softer now due to the large group it is. As for the sopranos, do sing out more! It is hard to hear your parts now and the most important thing is that you all have parts that are the main melody. So, you have to try and sing out more :) Don't be afraid of making mistakes and thus singing softly. Instead you should sing out so that we will be able to correct your mistakes ^^ You won't want to have your voice sticking out in the section because of the wrong notes that you are singing. Also, if there are any parts that you are unsure of, do ask your section leaders to give you the notes :)

Remember to practice the parts that we have went through today!!

Alright, sec2s please remember to attend your theory lessons on Monday at the T&L lab from 2~3. The rest of you please assemble outside the AV theater at 3pm. Please bring your PE attire along as we will be having PT! :D For the sec1s that have got swimming, do try to report back as possible. We don't want you to miss the fun ^^ See you on Monday and have a good rest over the weekends!

The Singapore Lyric Opera: Mozart's Don Giovanni

A few weeks ago, Ms Phong has asked us if any of us wants to attend this musical titled Mozart's Don Giovanni. Here's a synopsis of the musical:

Don Giovanni written by Mozart and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte is the most dramatic and flamboyant of their collaborations. A score bursting with musical invention, beautiful arias, charming duets and dramatic ensembles all offset by wit and comic irony which bring a unique brilliance to the drama.

The Opera opens with a murder. During the course of the day the murderer, Don Giovanni, goes on to a wedding, several attempted seductions, a masquerade, a mugging and an encounter with an apparition whom he then invites to dinner. His luck finally runs out when the spectre of the man he murdered appears. Though offered heavenly redemption, Don Giovanni remains unrepentant until the flames of Hell consume him. If all this drama seems unrelenting, it is offset by the humorous and ironic comments of his servant Leporello.

Is Don Giovanni a comic or serious opera or both? The most convincing answer was given by Alfred Einstein “… it is an “opera buffa” with “seria” roles … a work of genius … incomparable and enigmatic from the evening of its first performance to the present day”.

The prices are in a range from $10.50 to $53.50. That's a huge subsidy from the original price of $25 to $130! The venue is at the Esplanade Theater. Limelight 2012 Voices as One: Cedar Girls' School Choir

This is Cedar Girls' School Choir's very own concert. It is something like the combined concert that we had at SOTA last December, only higher scale. Hahaha. Here's a sypnosis:

Join the Cedar Girls’ Choral Excellence Choir as they present sacred and secular songs across a wide range of musical genres including traditional folk, jazz, contemporary, madrigals and opera arias. This concert will also feature a chamber ensemble as well as solo and duet performances.

The Cedar Girls’ Choral Excellence Choir—under the direction of Ms Naomi Chye—has distinguished itself as a Gold Award choir at the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging, receiving the Gold with Honours award in 2005, 2007 and 2011. The Choir has also done Singapore proud by garnering several awards at overseas competitions: Musica Religiosa in the Czech Republic; The Pacific Basin Music Festival in Hawaii; The International Music Festival in Australia; and the Bournemouth Music Maker Festival in the United Kingdom.

The Choir actively promotes cultural awareness through choral exchanges with high schools from Japan, Hong Kong and the A Cappella Choir Villach from Austria. The mission to share the passion for choral music with the community is also realised through a collaboration with the Singapore vocal group Budak Pantai and The Singapore American School Choir and Orchestra.

The standard price is $20 but there's a student price so it's $10 only! hahaha. benefits of a student ;D The venue will also be at the Esplanade Concert Hall. It is on 29th Mar(Thur) and starts at 7.30PM. Duration is around 1h 20mins~

Hi everyone. I'm Josie. Welcoming all sec 1s to the damaivoicez, where our choir gets stronger and stronger! Yesterday was our first day together where we saw all the cute faces of our sec 1s! Hope in better days to come, our love and care will grow together.

For the sec 1s
Yo! You guys must remember to bring your file, water bottle, stationery and notebook on days when there is choir! Also we will have physical training every alternate Mondays, where we play sporty games. So remember to bring your pe attire on that day, but we will tell you guys before hand to bring! So don't have to worry about anything. Just bring your required materials :) also take note of our rules on the left side of the blog. It's somewhere down there. Okay please tag at the tag box for acknowledgement. Okay see you guys on Friday 1pm ;)) there will be breaks during choir practice.

ITS OK TO MAKE MISTAKES.WE MAKE MISTAKES IN ORDER TO LEARN :) i got to listen out to you guys really hard cos i really cant hear you guys during sectionals and mass singing.it should not be the case ok.dont torture my ears :(

Just to update all of you ,again ,choir practice are on Mondays and Fridays.
Practice on Monday :3pm.
Practice on Friday :Those of you who are in the Junior Choir you have to be in the AV theatre by 12.15pm and for those in the Senior Choir report at 1.15pm.

Attention all Sec 2s :
In addition to your choir practices all of you will be having Theory Lessons from 2pm-3pm at the TNL Lab(beside staff room) EVERY MONDAY starting from 16 Jan which is this coming practice.

Today's performance :
RESPECT.It is two ways ,you dont give the committee the respect they deserve then you are clearly stating that we should scream and shout at you .I dont care who's up there talking whatever it is shut it and listen .It looks like we have to start reminding you little children about your basic manners.

The Dance :
We asked for your opinion ,who wanted the dance ? MAJORITY said they wanted to dance the Glee Medley .We thought of all of you ,we gave you a choice .So please co-operate with me.This performance is crazy important. We can change Sec 1s perception on Choir .As you all know Sec 1s can change their CCAs in the 1st two weeks right ? We could either recruit more or make the ones that put Choir as their first choice REGRET.We do not want any narrow-minded ,uncivilised animals from the audience to jeer right? We are going to work on the dance on Monday and perfect it.

Attendance:
We have new teachers-in-charge now so new rules.Mrs Ang is very particular about everyone's attendance ,if you are not coming inform Carinda and she'll tell Mrs Ang .If your sick ,get a Medical Cert. !! If you are self-medicating ,get a formal parent's letter stating the day you were sick and leave parents contactable info on the letter .There is a high chance Mrs Ang will give them a call to clarify.

Next practice???
Next choir practice is on Monday 3pm as for Sec 2s report at 2pm at TNL Lab.We're are going to practice the dance so it is going to be tiring ,be ready :) BRING YOUR YELLOW DRESSES. Label them on a hanger !

This is a long update post read it word for word and then tag .
Anw ,we received feedback that many of you do not think that sectionals are fruitful and are a waste of time so we came up with something different and we will have smaller groups of sectionals to help every single one of you closely .Everything will start after the new year.

Hey choir :) Syafiqah here again. Sigh... Well my topic isnt going to be that lengthy because i know that you all have heard *what i'm gonna say now* before. Basically its another "scolding session" but i'll summarize it. So, first of all, i'm sorry for being so... well, i dont know the negative things you think about me. so yeah.... But its my job to remind you all about basic stuff like respect. If you want to be respected, you have earn it by respecting your seniors and listening to them... We can be friendly but there's certain limit to it. We talk, you listen and viceversa. Secondly, i wana remind you all, please DONT USE PHONE DURING CHOIR PRACTICE! You can use it before or after choir or during choir break. Even if you're cant sing for some practices, do not use your phone!! Lastly, DO NOT TALK IF SOMEONE IS TALKING AT THE FRONT because it may be IMPORTANT. When you listen, do not use your mouth but your ears to listen because we dont like to repeat ourselves. So hope that you all will do what i have reminded you tomorrow.
